HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN A VIEWER’S TRUST? I consider it a huge responsibility
that viewers across the entire country, and other countries, turn on FNC and trust the people they see on the screen to tell
them what’s going on in the world. It is an awesome responsibility, and I try to never take that for granted.
WHY SHOULD A VIEWER TRUST FOX NEWS FOR THEIR INFORMATION AND PERSPECTIVE? We make an effort to give all sides
of the story. Notice I don't just say "both sides" because many times there are more than two sides; there are often
many different ways to look at an issue. And a viewer's trust isn't easy to earn. Viewers have to watch us over time and come
to realize that they trust us. That's how slowly but surely, day after day, viewer by viewer, we are earning people's trust.
IS THE RELATIONSHIP LIKE BETWEEN FOX NEWS AND ITS VIEWERS? I like the fact that Fox is so interactive and seeks out the feedback
of its viewers. We get e-mails and phone calls from people--some complimenting us, but others who feel that something wasn't
presented the way they wanted it to be presented, and I believe that keeps us honest. I think it’s great that the viewers
have a chance to get in touch with us and keep us on our toes.
IS IT ABOUT FOX NEWS CHANNEL THAT RESONATES WITH VIEWERS AND HAS MADE IT THE NUMBER ONE CABLE NEWS NETWORK? The passion of
the people who work here. The people here really do care about news and they come from very diverse backgrounds, from all
parts of the country. They enjoy the competition. We're especially enjoying the fact that we seem to be winning now! We seem
to be on a roll and it is just an exciting time to be at Fox News Channel. Our hosts also have a great sense of humor, and
that makes them likeable even if viewers don’t agree with them.
MAKES FOX NEWS LIVE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER NEWS SOURCES?
On Fox News Live, the anchors are not just reading news copy
out of a teleprompter. We have to know what we’re talking about. Fox cares about its journalism and focuses on live,
breaking news. The producers are great behind the scenes in terms of booking guests, and having people ready for us to interview
at a moment's notice, without a script, without preparation. Most of us were hired by Fox because we already have the experience,
the “life preparation” to handle whatever breaks.
DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO EACH DAY?
In the morning when I wake up and find out what the stories of the day are, I can't
wait to get here and actually start reporting on them myself and interviewing some of the newsmakers. I always try to be the
voice of the viewer. I try to think “what do the viewers sitting at home want to know?”
FREQUENTLY ASKED OF PATTI ANN BROWNE:
TO WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE YOUR SUCCESS IN THE TOUGH NEWS BUSINESS? My parents
have been the biggest influence on my life. They taught me good values, and because of them I always strive to be ethical.
Also, I believe in hard work. Some people think it’s “who you know”. It’s true that some people get
ahead because a relative or close friend is a TV executive. But most of us just work hard, and eventually we become “known”
by the decision-makers because we distinguished ourselves along the way.
YOU MARRIED AND DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN? Yes. I got married in May 2004. We have a beautiful son, born in July 2005.
IS IT TRUE THAT YOU HAVE A TWIN? Yes, I have two wonderful sisters: an identical twin and a sister who is a year younger.
I don’t have any brothers, but I have three great brothers-in-law and a terrific sister-in-law. I also have 4 wonderful
